This may be one of my proudest moments yet since I started Self-ValYOU! I am very excited to share this and I want to say thank you, thank you, thank you to everyone who has been a part of building this program. All the school groups and scout troops and support groups and people I have IntervYOUed, and all of my girls and coaches at Girls on the Run St. Louis, and Ms. Amie Konwinski and everyone at Smart Gen Society, just everyone, and my family who has helped me get to where I needed to go and work on my website and all my materials and watched me practice my presentations and edited my articles, I could not do this without you! All of you share this award with me!!!

So what is all this excitement about?
Earlier this week I received a UPS envelope in the mail (which you know whatever it is in there has to be important when you see it in one of those envelopes. And it WAS!!). It was the notification that I am this year's 2020 The Prudential Spirit of Community Awards high school winner for the State of Missouri for my work on Self-Val YOU: Promoting Positive Personal Imagery!!!! I want to thank my school first for making me their nominee this year for the award. This is a national program and schools from all over the country and Girl Scout councils, YMCAs, 4-H clubs, American Red Cross chapters, and Points of Light organizations nominate and certify students in high school and junior high for this award, so this is beyond a huge honor to have been picked from all of these people my age doing amazing things in their communities all over Missouri.

In May the national organization is bringing me to Washington DC for four days of national recognition events and ceremonies including being awarded a $1,000 scholarship. I cannot wait to meet the other 50 high school volunteers from all over the country and I am most excited to be a part in the organization's community service project of reading to and delivering donated books to kids in DC elementary schools. My family was speechless and I still really cannot believe it. I am very very proud to represent my school and the whole state of Missouri, and of course the Miss Missouri's Outstanding Teen Organization, at this event and throughout this year. I am also very excited for Missouri's junior high awardee Elizabeth Ravasini who is from Lee's Summit and organizes monthly visits to bring music to nursing homes, and I can't wait to meet her and the other 50 junior high awardees.

Here is the press release about the award:
