Every now and then I am totally amazed at what people think they have the right to do. Do you know what you do not have the right to do? You do not have the right to try to tear down the hard work I do and the hard work other people do on feeling good about themselves and working on positive body and self image. And that is exactly what an amazing local news meteorologist here in my hometown made VERY clear recently when she got a horrible email from a viewer trying to tear her down and body shame her. Tracy Hinson, a meteorologist at KSDK which is the Channel 5 station in St. Louis, received an email from a viewer the other day that was extremely mean. In the email the person told her that she should wear clothes that "cover her bulge" and that she should WEAR A GIRDLE?!?!?!? when she is reporting the weather. Are you serious? What gives anyone the right to talk to someone like this? It made me think about how awful and how hurt I would feel if I got something like that and how it could set someone back SO MUCH if they are struggling with positive body image. I got madder and madder when I thought about it and I am SO happy that she did not just take that treatment and not do anything about it.

Instead she shared it with the whole world on Twitter and told Mary, the person who emailed her, that she loves her body the way it is and that whether or not Mary likes her body is not her problem. THANK YOU Tracy for not making body image some secret or shameful thing. THANK YOU for not letting someone else tear you down. I have had people say things to me before that are hurtful and I allowed it to take me down for a little while. I admire how she not only didn't let it take her down, but she fought back.

I am very inspired by what Tracy did and I think she seems like she has an awesome sense of humor and I like cheese too, LOL. #valYOUable
